Maybe its because I'm older, but I've never been as attached to The Onion's brand of snarky satire as many of my current friends. But I have to admit they score with a recent "op-ed" by "Jimmy Carter." It's very profane. Which, considering its subject/"author," makes it that much more funny. See it here.

Where the Onion is best is in the initial conception of the joke, which usually means the headlines. The stories tend to be a repetitive riff to drive the point home, which is why I always think they're best stuff are the teaser headlines on the front page that don't actually have a story. This includes such classics as "Standard Deviation Not Enough For Perverted Statistician".
Obviously, that just can't be improved upon.
