Not Good

As we have known for a while now, the Army has had difficulty in fulfilling its recruiting goals over the last year or so. It's understandable, since kids know that they have a one-way ticket to Iraq once basic training is over. So, the Army has been relaxing its standards by increments over the same amount of time. First, they relaxed the upper age for recruits. Then, they relaxed the educational requirements they had. Now, apparently, they are relaxing the no-tolerance policy they have had since the Oklahoma City bombing about allowing neo-fascists and skinheads from joining up. The NY Times has an article today that demonstrates that more and more of these nefarious type of people are enlisting in the Army, which means that we taxpayers are providing training for a whole generation of Tim McVeigh types. As an Army child, may I say: Not good. More here.
