Sham
]You know, youtube is an amazing source of video. It's changed my teaching almost overnight. And I've been watching it a lot lately to see old horse races. And I have a new favorite race horse: Sham.
Sham came in second place to Secretariat in both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes in 1973. In fact, both times he ran track records, only to be beaten by the great Big Red. Any other year, Sham may have been the Triple Crown Winner. In the Belmont that year, he went head to head with Big Red for a whole mile before fading out. No one could have beaten Big Red that day.
Sham was a great, great horse.
